The City of Longview Parks and Recreation Department plans to build a splash park named in memory of longtime community supporter Jack M. Mann. The park will open summer of 2012 and will include a covered pavilion, restrooms and parking lot, along with a state of the art splash pad. Located in the center of Lear Park, it will serve thousands of families, community members and guests of our city. Money is available for the infrastructure but community funds will take this project from a standard splash pad to a regional destination park unlike any other in East Texas!
The Mann family and the Dr Pepper/Snapple Corp. has kicked the campaign off with a very generous gift. The Made-Rite Company has been distributing Dr Pepper since 1925 in the East Texas area. Hundreds of East Texas organizations, companies and individuals have benefitted from Mr. Mann’s personal and corporate support. We are asking the community to take this opportunity to acknowledge his generosity by helping us raise $250,000 for this project. For corporate giving information, please contact Dietrich Johnson at email address listed below.
All donations are greatly appreciated. Donor recognition is available through leveled giving and/or sponsorship of park assets. Later in the campaign development, purchase of bricks in the park plaza will be available as well. Donations of $5,000 or more can be paid in multiple payments. Our target date for having funds committed is December 1, 2011 to allow for a start date early in 2012.
Checks should be payable to PALS Foundation, notating support of the Jack Mann Project. This will ensure your money goes to this project. Checks can be mailed to PALS Foundation, P O Box 2761, Longview, TX 75603. The PALS Foundation is a 501-C-3 organization so all donations are tax deductible.
